Setouchi Triennale Official Tour Shido Island Trip

    Tour Details

A lively and heartwarming special tour where you’ll explore expressive artworks set against the nostalgic streets of Shido and the beautiful white sands and black pines of Tsuda—culminating in an official Setouchi Triennale event where you'll join local residents in dancing the Setouchi Scenery Ondo, a folk-inspired modern dance created by contemporary ondo composer Yamanaka Camera.
In Shido, enjoy a stroll through the charming temple town atmosphere of a gateway to the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage and visit places linked to Edo-period genius inventor Gennai Hiraga. In Tsuda, take in breathtaking views where striking art installations blend with iconic raised-root pine trees.
The event’s creator, Yamanaka Camera, is a boundary-pushing artist known for traveling across Japan and abroad to collaborate with local communities—transforming regional landscapes, histories, and ways of life into original ondo songs.
He is responsible for the lyrics, composition, choreography, and direction, offering a cutting-edge form of dance music where tradition and modernity meet in a fresh take on the Bon Odori.
For dinner, visitors can enjoy special local dishes lovingly prepared by locals.
