Setouchi Triennale Official Tour Utazu Island Trip
This special tour takes you around the Utazu area, where the arts festival will be held for the first time, and includes a tour of the Seto Inland Sea History and Folklore Museum, where you can enjoy the official arts festival event, "Echo Heritage," and a tour of the museum.
The Seto Inland Sea History and Folklore Museum is hosting a project called "Setouchi Echo Heritage A Cappella Live!", which is a regional a cappella performance project that names buildings and spaces with unique acoustics, such as tunnels and public baths, as "Echo Heritage." Experience a moving a cappella live performance by the female trio, "Echo Tour Choir." The Seto Inland Sea History and Folklore Museum, the venue for the event, is located in Goshikidai, overlooking the Bisan Seto Strait. The building itself was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan last year.
Before the event, you can enjoy a close-up look at outdoor art installations made of acrylic panels, the same type used in aquarium tanks, while overlooking the Seto Inland Sea in the waterfront area of Utazu. You can also stroll through the charming Komachi area, lined with historic townhouses, shrines and temples, including the impressive stained-glass triangular tower of Kuranoyakata Sankakutei. You'll come across artworks that evoke the area's history as a prosperous salt-making industry.
For lunch, you'll enjoy a special set meal in Utazu, featuring pressed sushi, a local Utazu dish, served with care by locals.
